OUR COMMITTEE

Westwood Nursery School is a committee-run community nursery. The nursery school was started over 30 years ago by mothers in Westwood getting together. We try to retain this legacy by organising social and fundraising events to allow parents to get to know one another outside of busy pick up times.

The committee, consisting of volunteer parents and supporters of the nursery, is responsible for employing staff, forming policies, decision-making and the financial aspects of running the Nursery.

THIS ASPECT MAKES US UNIQUE AND NON-PROFIT MAKING!

If you wish to contribute to nursery decisions, please join our parent-led committee. The committee has regular committee meetings each half term.  There is an Annual General Meeting, in October, to which all parents and staff are invited.  The minutes of our last AGM summarise the work of the committee and staff achievements over the last year.

If you would like to know more about the committee, please email the present Chairperson, Helen Vellance on hvellance@hotmail.co.uk.  We are a really friendly group, and welcome new members.  Any offers of help - big or small - are very gratefully received - committee members or helpers for our fund raising and other events - please do get in touch to find out more.

In addition, the Nursery is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance (PSLA). This Government organisation provides information and support as necessary, in order to guide us in policy creation. We can also access training courses, and other activities for staff and interested parents.
